‘The owner of a six-room guesthouse on the Isle of Lewis has become the first hotelier in Britain to be granted the right to sue TripAdvisor.’
‘…however, TripAdvisor successfully argued that the case was beyond the remit of a small-claims court and should be heard in a higher court. It’s a tactic the firm has used in Europe, says Chris Emmins, of the online watchdog KwikChex: “In effect, it’s a denial of the right to redress, exposing small businesses to a two-year process involving huge legal costs and unlimited expenses.”’
